Rob Petrie serves as senior vice president and chief technology officer for PPD. In this position, he is responsible for providing technology services across PPD’s global footprint, ensuring they are delivered effectively and efficiently and that the technology strategy is aligned with the business strategy. He has more than 20 years of experience in IT and management with responsibility for providing systems development and technology operation/services.
Petrie joined PPD in 1998 as associate director of IT in the company’s Richmond, Virginia, bioanalytical laboratory, advancing to director, executive director, vice president and his current position in 2017. Prior to joining PPD, he served as manager of application development and technology services for Pharmaco. His extensive experience also includes roles as a software system analyst and quality assurance officer for Life Science Research in Suffolk, England. Petrie has worked with contract research organizations for more than 25 years in the U.K. and the U.S. with pre-clinical and clinical operations.
Petrie earned a bachelor’s degree in quality assurance and computer science from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, and a master’s in business administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.
