Roger Newbery, Ph.D., serves as senior vice president of integrated monitoring and investigator services for PPD. In this role, he is responsible globally for PPD’s in-country site monitoring and support teams, as well as those for centralized monitoring, administration and site payments.
Dr. Newbery joined PPD in 2004 as director of clinical operations management and was promoted to increasingly senior-level roles of accountability. He served as senior vice president of clinical management and headed the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, overseeing a 2,000-member clinical research team.
Dr. Newbery has more than 30 years of experience in clinical research. He spent 17 years at GlaxoSmithKline, Wyeth and Novartis and also worked as an academic researcher at the Brighton School of Pharmacy. Dr. Newbery has been involved in a number of U.K. and internationally focused initiatives, including the Pharmaceutical Industry Competitiveness Task Force (PICTF) and the model National Health Service and pharmaceutical industry clinical trial agreement.
Dr. Newbery earned a doctorate in gastrointestinal physiology from the University of Brighton, a postgraduate teaching certification from the University of Southampton and a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Leicester, all in the U.K.
