Philanthropy at PPD in Latin America
We Do the Right Thing
At PPD, we are committed to helping to improve the health and lives of people around the world. Our integrity defines us, and is demonstrated in our employees’ daily work and their efforts outside of the office. As a company, our philanthropic giving and community outreach philosophy is simple: We invest our volunteering and funding resources into organizations that lead the way in contributing to develop healthier and thriving communities.
Our employees are the heart of our efforts. With every dollar that PPD donates, we ensure there is an opportunity for employees to volunteer and engage within their local communities. The passion and goodwill exemplified by our teams around the globe are not just beneficial to the surrounding communities, but also create a culture of collaboration within the workplace.
Below are just a few examples of the philanthropic initiatives our employees have contributed to.
Employees Help Children in Peru Cope with Illness
Employees in our Peru office started a corporate volunteering initiative at their local children’s hospital with Aprendo Contigo (Learning with You). This organization helps children, who are experiencing life-threatening illnesses, to continue living as normal a life as possible. Volunteers use entertaining and educational activities to help children cope with the pain, fear and isolation of prolonged illness.
TeamPPD partnered with this organization to entertain 40 children from the hospital trauma room. Along with games and singing, the day’s activities included a hands-on activity that let the children use their imaginations to decorate keepsake photo frames.
Employees Assist Those with a Rare Disease
Employees in Brazil supported Vidas Raras, an organization that works to promote the constitutional rights of patients with rare diseases. Alongside Vidas Raras, the employees have helped support the patients and their families with access to legal counseling, promotional campaigns, and holding seminars and congresses.
Mexico City Employees Support Local Retirement Home
PPD’s employees in the Mexico City office donated medical equipment and funds to the Un Granito de Arena (A Grain of Sand), a retirement home where our employees regularly volunteer. With five locations throughout Mexico City, the facilities offer residents treatment based on dignity and respect, while creating a home-like atmosphere.
Employees from PPD presented two blood pressure meters, two oxygen concentrators and a corporate donation to the facility. Avril Granados, human resources manager for PPD, recounts the experience, “It was a pleasure to be able to help Un Granito de Arena give their people the attention and care that they deserve.”
At PPD, we don’t just talk about making a difference, we put our expertise, passion and time behind our work and the causes we support. Learn more about PPD’s philanthropy and community affairs initiatives and join a culture dedicated to making an impact on the health of people around the world.
