Philanthropy at PPD in North America
We Do the Right Thing
At PPD, we are committed to helping to improve the health and lives of people around the world. Our integrity defines us, and is demonstrated in our employees’ daily work and their efforts outside of the office. As a company, our philanthropic giving and community outreach philosophy is simple: We invest our volunteering and funding resources into organizations that lead the way in contributing to develop healthier and thriving communities.
Our employees are the heart of our efforts. With every dollar that PPD donates, we ensure there is an opportunity for employees to volunteer and engage within their local communities. The passion and goodwill exemplified by our teams around the globe are not just beneficial to the surrounding communities, but also create a culture of collaboration within the workplace.
Below are just a few examples of the philanthropic initiatives our employees have contributed to.
Employees Raise Money for Cancer Research
TeamPPD volunteered to raise money for cancer research at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center during an event organized by an employee at PPD's Middleton, Wisconsin, location.
In total, the nearly 50 members of TeamPPD supported by the Middleton Community Affairs Committee raised more than $6,000 during the Mama Goose Run, an event organized by Middleton employee Kari Giesfeldt, an associate group leader.
North Carolina Employees Support Susan G. Komen and the American Cancer Society
Hundreds of employees showed up at events in Wilmington and Morrisville demonstrating that PPD's mission to improve health isn't just part of the job for them — it's a way of life.
Employees helped raise more than $12,000 for the American Cancer Society and participated in the overnight New Hanover County Relay for Life in Wilmington.
Employees in our Morrisville office raised more than $13,000 for Susan G. Komen with many of them running or walking at the Susan G. Komen Triangle Race for the Cure event.
Both office locations raised funds for the organizations through casual dress days.
At the events, PPD Heroes Teresa Dunlap, Angela Esquivel, Denise Fowler and Kirk Smith shared their personal stories of triumph and the importance of clinical trials, embodying the mission of PPD.
Employees Walk, Raise Funds to Help Create a World Free of Multiple Sclerosis
More than 40 PPD colleagues and team members participated in a Walk MS event in Austin, Texas, raising money for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Before the walk, John Hamlet, a senior director of neurosciences, spoke about his passion for multiple sclerosis (MS) research. John, who has MS, and has TeamPPD colleagues have consistently been one of the top fundraisers for this annual event, which tries to raise more than $100,000 to help those with MS.
